Awards and Honors

My debut book, THE DOWRY BRIDE, won the Golden Leaf Award in 2008. This year THE UNEXPECTED SON won the 2012 National Indie Excellence Book Award in the Muliticultural-Fiction category.

Two of my short stories won honors in national fiction contests sponsored by Writer’s Digest and New York Stories magazines. My story titled "Lingering Doubts" won First Place in the New Woman (India) magazine’s 2005 fiction contest.

I wrote and directed two plays in the Konkani language, my mother tongue.

A number of my articles and short stories have been published in a variety of newspapers and magazines like Romance Writers Report, The Writer magazine, Romantic Times, New Woman, India Abroad, Little India, U.S. 1 weekly, Sulekha.com, India Currents, Little India, and Kanara Saraswat.
